K2’s ultimate ski mountaineering product has been completely revamped and engineered to performance and efficiency perfections. The K2 Wayback 82 ski features a new sidecut and tip profile for improved ease and forgiveness while skiing in difficult snow, and sidewalls for increased precision and edgehold. Most notably, the new ECOre construction reduces weight by over 10% so it ascends with ease while still retaining solid, confident downhill performance.
All−Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge−hold in firmer conditions.
Hybritech sidewall. Hybritech is a unique blend of sidewall and cap constructions. The construction combines the accuracy, power, and performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics and smooth turn initiation of cap construction.
Carbon Web. Carbon weave where the strands of carbon are laid at precise angles for an additional level of torsional rigidity on the secondary core. This keeps the ski light but gives you the additional torsional strength where you need it most.
Snophobic Topsheet. Since snow collecting on the ski can add pounds to a climb, SnoPhobic tops keep you light with a new snow−repellent topsheet. The running surface along the bottom of a ski is hydrophobic by design, so K2 has developed a thinner version of the same material to use on the BackSide model−specific topsheets.
ECORE. Lightweight core achieved through the intermixing of long grain and end−grain balsa wood and flax fiber with five times the strength of regular balsa but 41% lighter than paulownia. The balsa used is certified FSC( Forest Stewardship Council), and like flax, is renewable, fast growing and recyclable.
