Video: Alex Megos, Bouldering in Västervik

by Barrabes - 0

Rumour has it that twenty-three year old German climber, Alex Megos is one of the most finely tuned, if not the finest, climbers on the planet.

Not only is he repeating the most difficult routes in the world, but he is doing it in a very short time. For example, some years ago he climbed the mythical Action Direct route in Frankenjura and redpointed in just two hours.

He has become the first person to make a flash (on first try) ascent of a 9a route, and to have completed 9a+ and 9b routes in a shorter time than most.

This summer, Alex is focusing on boulder climbing and has been solving some of the hardest boulder problems, one after the other. One of his favourite bouldering spots is Västervik, where he’s spent the last two seasons. This Swedish climbing area is fast becoming popular among top international climbers.

In Västervikk, he has climbed twenty problems ranging from 8a to 8b as well as opening a new route; German Roulette (8a+) and Game of Shadows (8b).

In this video, you can see the incredible, dynamic moves that define the style of Alex Megos.
